This is beautiful, in a very twisted sort of way. One assumes that it was intended to be the Devil in a slightly less redhorned-and-goofy way, but it matches up perfectly to some rather disturbed descriptions I've heard of God that supposedly justify the actions they say he takes.

Nightmare fuel if you're a little kid, obviously, but it makes a statement that I don't believe it meant to.

If you wanna get all philosophical, since God is supposed to be responsible for everything that happens (omnipotent), then Satan and all his mischief is by his design. At this point, one has to wonder where God stops and Satan begins, eh?

See, this is why I like literature that favors the Devil and co. in some form or fashion (thank you, navigatorsghost). It's pretty much all God's fault in the first place, it's just that Satan had the balls to say 'fuck you' and go do his own thing.

Just imagine what this could've stirred up if Satan said flood and fireballs instead. It's this... brutal and heartless innocence that I really like about the character portrayed in this animation, and the fact that it portrays Satan as a deity figure or at least a demigod rather than just an angel.

Yeah, I know this entry was months old, but I just caught it, and I'm really compelled to just...talk about it. It's definitely going to keep me up at night.

Going off of what Fadura said about the flood in particular (because for me, that strikes me as a stronger modus operandi for destruction than lightning, the latter making me think more of Zeus. XD), if Satan'd had used that, I'd almost would have wished that the character wouldn't have been named at all, so there'd be that very ambiguous line between God and Satan. But because he was named (and I feel very odd for saying "he" for some reason), it makes you think about what angels really are like, what God is like as an extension.

The fact that his name is Satan but he calls himself an angel makes me think as well. Maybe it's because "Satan" is much more widely-recognized than "Lucifer", and there's a greater shock at hearing the name, but the fact that he still refers himself as an angel makes me think that there's no such thing as "the devil". In this case, I can really only think of the name "devil" as simply being a title distinguishing him from the fold of other angels, certainly not something to be equated with evils and horrors unimaginable. You could say that he's mocking them almost, in that he's making no distinction between him and them, which tickles me a bit. (I thought of something else to counter that point but it slipped my mind when I counter-countered it. You follow? Yeah, neither did my brain. It's why it said "fuck you" and stopped working. @_@)

God, that video is making me think so much. @_@ I keep thinking of one dynamic after the other after the other after the other between the God/Satan thing. It almost makes me want to write something on it. XD

It actually seems to refer back to the Old Testament/Jewish version of Satan (pronounced Sah-tahn, if you want to get technical about it). In that version Satan was only an agent of God, and his name translates as something like "the opposer". Basically, it was his job to test people, fuck over their lives, and screw things up so that God could see what they did.

How does that fit in with God realistically, though? It doesn't make any sense to me that a creation could know something the creator could not, especially if the creator knows everything the creation does.

The casual amusement part especially doesn't fit in with Christianity, as God wouldn't have sent Jesus to die for casual amusement ... but in Judaism, that certainly makes more sense, from what I've seen of the Old Testament (if the OT -- "Hebrew Scriptures"? -- is true to Judaism.)
