After talking the matter over with

faithinfire, I’ve come to the conclusion that my previous post resulted in me being a bit of a dickweed in an area I have no experience with and probably shouldn’t be making broad sweeping statements relating to the opinion of a group which I have next to no experience with. That is not something I like doing and if I’d had a bit more sense I’d have caught it – this is probably more proof that I need not to post while sleep deprived. I’ll see if I can have something fic-ish later this evening after I come out from under my self-induced rock.

I get into it here and here for the most part, but pretty much everyone's sharing their thoughts on the matter.

My thoughts, highly distilled, are that traditional yaoi isn't fetishizing a sexuality so much as a specific ideal and dynamic, and anyone who thinks that real gay men act like that has a few more problems than the doujinshi on her hard drive. Any thoughts from the audience?
