Ha! I knew it! In your face, Luna!

(Just joking, Luna. Really. Please don't get mad at me.)

And in other news, my Chem teacher is freaking scary. He spent the first half of class talking about how most people wouldn't get above a C and that it was a Very Hard class and anyone taking it for fun or to impress their parents should just leave. He doesn't even seem to like teaching his subject. I'm going to try and get switched to another teacher, because if I'm going to take a class I dislike, I want to at least have an enthusiastic teacher who seems to enjoy it themselves.

Is it not serendipitous and wonderful and so, so squeeatable? *kicks feet with glee!*

Erk. Maybe he was just trying to scare people and show anyone who may have been thinking those things that it genuinely is a hard class? Having said that, you really don't want to be stuck with a teacher who's a git if you don't like the subject to begin with. Good luck with changing classes - if the numbers are okay and there's no clashes/overspill, it should be easy enough, I think. *hugs tight*

It is of the very much happy.

That's what I thought, but when he started out the class going through 'this is where you will screw up first, and most people only get Cs or Ds in this class' and then says that repitition is the best way to learn. Not cool.

Well, repetition certainly works better than some methods, but the best way to learn is the one that works. Full stop.

He's risking Starscream's wrath to use himself as the bait instead of, say, Evac. And why would he put himself in peril, might one ask? Alterior motives.

So what would it take to make you believe?

While I wasn't there... maybe that Chem teacher just wanted to scare off those who aren't serious about the subject?

Kinda like with how a drill sergeant treats the new recruits - it's not that he doesn't like training them, it's about weeding out those who have a tendency to crack under stress or otherwise don't belong in a job where you handle weapons and have lives depending on you.

Now, obviously, chemistry is not the military, but maybe it's not that the teacher doesn't enjoy his subject, maybe it's that he takes his subject seriously and thus wants to scare off those who only want an easy grade?

Well, I've officially been scared. If he doesn't like teaching, I don't want to be in his class.

Ow. Then again, once he's sure he's scared people into working, he might be all right. I knew a French teacher like that - she terrified me, but actually she was pretty good if she saw that you were putting your back into it. (This we learned *after* we'd spent months panicking because we took her 'if you got below 80% you shouldn't be taking this class' comments seriously.)

On the other hand, he could be one of the ones who really doesn't like teaching, but it can be very hard to tell the types apart sometimes. *goes back to giggle at the Insecticomic*

Hm. Our (recently retired) Chemistry teacher used to put the fear of god into us - and it resulted in over half the class getting As at GCSE and A Level. So... Maybe yours is trying that tactic?

Not mine anymore; I switched over to another teacher.
