So the reason you haven't heard much from me in the past few days is because I've been, in two basic ways, dead.

The first 'dead' is 'the walking dead', because I've come down with the cold from hell. It started with a sore throat on Saturday (whereupon Alana tended to me most lovingly, which may be one of the reasons she caught it a day later), exacerbated by me taking Alana down to the Greyhound station on a cold Chicago morning using two buses there and some wandering to the train trying to get back. It then intensified and became further complicated by me thinking it was a good idea to drag myself to class on Tuesday morning, to the point where I was cold-sweating and passing out in class and had to take the bus home. Wednesday I just had to send K2 with my condolences for my morning class and limped out to the later class with the aid of the bus and shuttle systems. Fortunately those are my only two days with classes so I have been recuperating in my extremely messy room and waiting this mess out with an army of tissues and cough drops printed with inspirational messages. Hopefully it's only a day or so more.

It doesn't help that my jaw's still sore as fuck, especially on the right, but I can't wear the mouthguard when I'm sick like this because it's just agony on my throat. I'd really like it if this just fixed on its own. With magic.

The second dead is 'taking the role of a dead guy'. I finished playing Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective last night, because congestion makes it very hard to sleep. In gameplay terms it's relatively simple. You do mostly puzzle solving using Sissel's poltergeist abilities to manipulate various inanimate objects, combined with timed puzzle solving during the 'four minutes before death' segments where you go four minuets back in time to stop someone's death. I think the difficulty level is just about right, the only really annoying level is chapter nine and you'll know what I mean when you get to it. They also keep changing up the puzzles just enough that you don't feel like you're repeating the same actions every time.

As for writing, the Ace Attorney gang's fingerprints are all over the game. If you liked the lawyer games, you'll probably like this. The characters are fun (Cabanela in particular won my heart)It's amazing, but the plot is just...I can't even say that much about the plot because I want to spare you from spoilers. It starts out as a traditional amnesia mystery/murder mystery with an occult flavor but rather quickly turns bizarre in the best of ways. By the last third of the game I'd given up trying to guess what was going on because the known facts were swerving and twisting so fast that I was as confused as the protagonist, but it all gets brought together really well and I didn't find it particularly contrived. I'd caution anyone wanting to play it to avoid spoilers as much as possible, because the plot twists are really a big deal and really what give the game its replay value.

Also Missle. Just...Missile. You must play for Missile because he is made of love.
