Jan. 9th, 2006 04:52 pmI wrote this while bored and thoughtful in my creative writing class. The backstory to it is that I've been going over a couple times a week to play with the ten-year-old kid of my mom's friend Susan, who happens to be dying of cancer. Now, don't get me pegged as a huge Samaritan here. Alex has a bunch of transformers too, and I haul my toy selections of the day over in a laundry basket and we talk Autobots and Decepticons at each other for a few hours (and I seem to have gotten him interested in G1 by showing him episodes of MTMTE Parts 1-3).
Cancer is how I was in middle school
No knowledge of personal space
An eager bunch of cells that didn't know when to back down
The others show, "No, it's enough!"
But they can't hear, unable to stop
It's not their fault that their actions are suicide
I arrive with a basket of toys
Plastic mimicks of giant mecha
The prizes of my collection
Powerful creatures with metal skin
Powerful names like Leobreaker, Thundercracker,
Megatron and Optimus Prime
They change into powerful jets and cars
With plastic missiles to defeat their foes
And cheesy lines like, "Evil will never triumph."
And as we rush up the stairs to his room
I am careful not to trip over the oxygen tube
Snaking down the stairs
Attached to a zombie, I think
I try not to stare at her empty eyes
I fear to touch her, should she fall limp at my feet
It steals her life
Like a rampaging Decepticon army
Out for blood and our planet's energy
I prefer this image
It is easier to watch alien robots
Fight and kill and die in bursts of flame and shrapnel
Then to watch my friend
And the mother of my friend
Slip away like a whisper

Erhm, don't have anything better to say. The language is just amazing. Very descriptive, visual... I'm out of words now. It's that good.
