Finally, the pictures from my househunting trip. No, you do not get to see the house, not yet. You will see it when it is ours.

Photobucket

So the building across the street had swastikas on it. IDK.

Photobucket

Very nice of Bay to put these up, to make sure everyone understood what was going on. I like the "Do not be alarmed", but it needs the word "citizens" on the end.

Photobucket

Reclusemun told me to find Barricade. I found a barricade. Almost the same thing.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Some classy pictures of random Chicago. The place is ridiculously photogenic, if it was human it would be a model.

Photobucket

Photobucket

My first views of the Transformers 3 set were mostly covered up cars and pieces of fake rubble. It wasn't until our third or fourth crowd-covered barricade that we saw...Him.

Photobucket

He was chillin' behind the barricades first, but then they drove him out and took him around the corner for his photo-ops, where he was immediatly mobbed by fans and small children.

Photobucket

Awwwww yeah.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And teenage girls, for some reason? Again, idk.

Photobucket

I think he's stripping for us. Lol fanservice.

Photobucket

Prime's Pretender isn't nearly as hot as the fangirls seem to think it'll be.

Photobucket

Of course Optimus Prime puts in hard work helping out the set crew.

Photobucket

Kelly and I seriously considered hitting one of them over the head and taking his shirt, but that's probably illegal. This guy posed for us, between saying "no cameras please" and secretly informing us that if we did use cameras there was technically nothing he could do to stop it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Set trucks. Nemesis Prime's really put on weight.

Photobucket

Couldn't steal these either.

Photobucket

Photobucket

One of the guards lets me pose with her hat on. The hat was awesome.

Photobucket

I have absolutely no idea who this guy was or why all these women wanted pictures with him. Anyone know? I don't think he's Bay.

Photobucket

Covered cars.

Photobucket

Photobucket

More rubble.

Photobucket

More Ratchet! I actually wandered over and smacked his side before running off, to which the guard replied, "Are you kidding me?!" and I answered, "You have your hobbies!".

Photobucket

...really hoping this isn't part of the film.

Photobucket

Back to more Chicago pictures, this one the first night while we wandered around looking for a suitable restaurant. We wound up at Flattop Grill, which is basically an Asian buffet except at the end they stir-fry everything for you and occasionally put flatbread in it. Very tasty.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The next day in the pub watching the World Cup finals. The bar had a habit of going "Aaaaah--aww" every time someone made a near goal and went nuts after Spain finally did something. Roomie is confused and horrified by this strange custom.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Revelers after the cup in Millenium Park. We can only assume the Netherlands supporters are out drinking their troubles away. Or smoking them.

Photobucket

Photobucket

...corn. In a maze pattern. I refuse to call it a 'corn maze' as that implies a field of corn mowed into a maze. This is just silly.

Photobucket

I'm pretty sure this is where the Music Meister will make his latest world takeover attempt.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

More park and the boardwalk beyond it.

Photobucket

Seagulls patrolling the Canadian border.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The Field Museum, one of my brother's favorite places. And yes that is an elephant made of tires.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And after that we snuck into the Hilton. It's a gorgeous sort of place. Roomie fit in perfectly, of course, as she was dressed nicely and had perfect posture and spoke softly. I believe she's had etiquette and politics classes in the past, so we sort of had the butch/femme thing going with me and my unshaven legs in capris and tank top.

Photobucket

Rained a lot that night. I may put this one on my DevArt, I'm very proud of it.

Photobucket

The next day. This is Hydra, a weimeraner who lives down the street from The House. We hung out with her owner and walked with her a bit. Very excitable dog.

...god, this city is beautiful.

So now I have something to think on during those long deli hours.

Everything looks awesome and it's such a beautiful city, but I object to that ridiculous maze.

Bah, fixed the HTML.

And yes. I complained most loudly about it.

Suddenly I understand my roomie's desire to plan a roadtrip. Also, this little artist-gal who's often searched for good Chicago street scenes references thanks you from the bottom of her now-filled Morgue folder. It's some great reference.

Looks like y'all had a blast (and you got to smack Ratchet--lucky you!). As bagelofdeath said, though...I very much object to that not-corn-maze thing. Whut.

I was snapping pictures of every vaguely attractive piece of architecture I saw, you're just getting the highlights. For some reason a good angle of a beam or a set of lights can really do it for me.

As a *ahem* connoisseur of various vegetation labyrinths, I must concur that that is a very, very silly corn "maze".

They were so proud of their 16,000 stalks and I was all *eyeroll* at them. Also you can see the next portions through the gaps in the fence.

It is, it so is, I want to be there now.

I'm driving up in a couple of weekends to go be a bum with a friend who lives up near there. I love being only a couple of hours away ^_^

*is so jealous atm*

Also, I think I recognize some of those structures from various TGWTG Vlogs (Spoony's in particular) that were made during the first anniversary get together.

I saw the talking fountain towers and the giant metal blob and my first thought was "omg! Channel Awesome was totally here!".

Those are meanders or meandros, which are a really ancient symbol for eternity - you see it a lot in Greece, but other cultures used it, too.

And then the Nazis ruined everything.

I thought they were Hindu symbols.

The Hindu may well use them, but I saw them a lot in Greece when I visited, and the tour guide chattered about the meaning of them and stuff.

I'm cracking up over here because when I saw that pink limo, the first thing that came into my head was "I hope that's not supposed to transform." Then I scrolled down far enough to read your caption for it. "Jinx!"

Nice pics. The ones of the city skyscrapers make me want to go back to New York. :)

New York and I never got on well, probably on account of my granma. Chicago feels cozier.

*le siiiiigh* I drove through Chicago on Wednesday...had nooo clue where to go to see this lovely stuff. Caught the interstate at rush hour though. It suuuuucked. My mom thought it'd be amusing if my car were randomly used in the movie since it's already all Autobot'd out...but it's a Toyota. Alas, ain't happenin'.

Millenium Park is where it's at. If you hit anywhere downtown it should be Millenium Park.
