"Why I Hate Machines" continues our good-episode-streak with much win and awesome.

I love Captain Fanzone. Next to the Angry Archer and Dr. Sumdac he's probably one of my favorite humans. He's a luckless curmedgeon living in the 2200s with mechanical aptitude still in the 1900s, and he still manages to kinda be a badass in his own minor way. In a way he fits well with Ratchet--they're both people behind their time, in a world they don't completely get and perhaps don't completely want to, but they try their darnedest anyway because if they don't, nobody else is going to.

He's also developed a good bit, to the point where he now at least trusts Team Optimus and most of his dislike of machines is due to the fact that machines seem to dislike him. I like that he managed to not only have a major freakout about being on Planet Giant Robot, but actively got into the effort to save Omega Supreme once he actually figured out what the heck was going on. Admittedly I wish he'd put his status as bioweapon to a slightly less disgusting purpose, but it was a smart move.

Obligatory flail at Rattrap, Tracks, and the return of Arcee (were they seriously keeping her locked in a room all this time?) and sexy sexy Shockwave, but I hardly need to speak of such things. Also wondering exactly how Lugnut's going to take Shockwave being gushed over as loyal and faithful and totally the most awesome Deceptiminion ever and are they going to do with Starscream's head besides use him as their personal dashboard Jesus.

Sentinel's made the upgrade from cockmonger to owner of a wholesale cock outlet store, and while at this point I've stopped being surprised by him encouraging the Purple Scare for his own gain the politics of the situation are getting me interested. It raises a lot of questions about Cybertron's government if Sentinel Prime, while only being "acting Magnus" (which is an electable position? Maybe?) can pretty much take over the place while the Council sits around waving twiddling his thumbs and telling him he's a naughty boy. Are they just for nonmilitary purposes or what? Maybe they're distracted by the pretty jetboys.

My one major objection with the episode, which is somehow both a flaw and a virtue of the show as a whole, is the fact that the majority of the characters were just randomly Not There even when they should have been. A lot of episodes that focus on individual characters rather than Team Optimus as a whole do that, probably so the spotlight isn't divided up into so many parts, which is a good move. Sometimes they even have a reason for it, like being off at a Six Flags expy or spending most of the episode pulling Lugnut out of a large hole (wtf?). But why is Ratchet struggling to work the space bridge instead of, y'know, the guys that built it? Eh, whatever. Plot. It was still a good way of combining a one-shot concept with advancing the main story-arc, and it was fun.

And the ending? Brace for impact, the P/J shippers are gonna go nuts. Glad to see someone has finally decided Sentinel might not be a safe person to hang out with anymore.

I have learned by now to no longer even try to guess what the writers are going to pull out next (or what happened to Girlscream), but I can't see the season ending without a full-scale Decepticon assault on Cybertron. Out with a bang and some Big Damn Heroes, that's about as good as it gets.

The Autobots aren't exactly culturally suave.
