Well, this brings the lulz.

Not quite wank, but amusing.
Over on shootfortheedit.com (no, I don't know what it means), a rather annoying individual named Shadow posts up information for the upcoming Transformers 2 movie, saying he's got contacts at Hasbro. Sneaky, sneaky.
And then fish happens.
See, this isn't "insider info". This isSparta the Koipedia. For the uninitiated, the Koipedia is basically a compilation of Transformers fanon as developed by
koilungfish. Unlike some fanon it has connections to canon events, but it's hardly insider material. Hilarity.

Date: 2009-01-19 03:43 pm (UTC)Maybe Koi should mail these threads to Hasbro and apply for a job. If people love its stuff when they think it's canon, there is a logical conclusion to be drawn...

Some of the fans do get a wee bit LULzy I'll admit. But I'm not one of them.

Date: 2009-01-19 04:43 pm (UTC)At the start of the Second war the ten Legions formed the core of the Autobot army. Two Legions were decimated in combat and a third was so reduced in numbers it was dissolved. Two more Legions were disbanded at the end of the Second War. During the Golden Age the five Legions formed Cybertron's standing army, maintained to respond to any xenos threat or to contain any public disorder or civilian crisis that the TEC could not handle. Later in the Golden Age many of the Legions' most veteran troops retired on pension and few new recruits were available to take their places. As a result the 5th Legion was dissolved.
Does that look like the work of a writer who can't even keep plotholes out of their own movie, let alone develop anything even remotely related to their history?

Date: 2009-01-19 06:03 pm (UTC)I've seen it done with Armada, and it turns all the 'cons into brute stereotypes. Because it's better not to have any bad guys with minds of their own outside sadism or small, irrelevant quirks.

Date: 2009-01-19 04:51 pm (UTC)Or you could just find out if he's looking into it by PMing him. Guide him in the right direction on getting the misinformation looked into and pulled.
Then again some people may have already called Shadow out on it and have gone to Nelson. He may be sitting back to see how it turns out.
I'm a member there, but as I've said before, haven't been there in a while, so I'm a wee bit behind. Nelson is pretty good about weeding out the misinformation (he's in constant contact with Bay). Orci's also a member there, he occasionally gets on. I've spoken with him a few times. Very nice guy.
But the best thing to do is just to PM Nelson (or e-mail him) and see if he's got the information you do.
Good luck. :) If it's misinformation that's being spread on the board, he'll get to the bottom of it and take action.

Date: 2009-01-19 05:12 pm (UTC)Now Shadow's probably going to throw a big fit since Nelson doesn't like to explain his actions. LOL!
Be prepared for that backlash. ;) But be sure to have all your information and ducks in a row when it does happen. :)

Date: 2009-01-19 05:16 pm (UTC)I'd hope Nelson PMed Shadow and told him why he was deleting the threads.
What sort of backlash do you mean? I'm not exactly going to be hanging around the board looking for hassle ...

Date: 2009-01-19 05:19 pm (UTC)I've seen it happen MANY times before. Too many to count. *sigh*
Just don't let it be known publicly that you reported it/brought it to Nelson's attention and you should be good. :)

Date: 2009-01-19 05:23 pm (UTC)Nelson responded awfully fast - he had those threads down in five minutes. I do wonder if someone else hadn't reported them already.
