ANTIGUA: The Land of Fairies Wizards and Heroes!

My god, it...it scars my very soul. So this is why you don't read the books in "Call of Cthulu".

EDIT: And in a moment of pagan-inspired luck, my roomie walked just after Inkubus Sukkubus' "Witches" stopped playing on my laptop. I would imagine I'd get some odd looks if she knew I was listening to pro-witch propaganda.

Gwergh! Self-publishing is not the solution to a total lack of talent! *has the horrors*

*clings to you*At least Eragon had mildly proper grammar. This is...this is an atrocity. And she's self-pimping in the forum comments like a Bangkok whore.

...by the way, I don't suppose Blackout's got the number of his therapist? I seem to have run into a bit of trouble with mine.

If Blackout really does have a therapist, I imagine it's "has" in the sense of "keeps in chains in the closet and thinks aloud to when he needs to clear his head", rather than anything more, y'know, professional. *has really worrying mental images now*

However, he does say he'll happily let you bitch at him next time he sees you, if it'd help?

*grins* Well, he did say he had one, although I'm wondering if he meant punching bag of some sorts.

He wouldn't mind me going on about Life?

Well, canon does have it that he was locked up in an asylum for a while - Deathwatch said as much in a throwaway panel - so I guess he's had his fair share of brushes with the mental health system. Probably sent them all home feeling even less sane than he is, mind you.

And, apparently not. He'll probably offer you way too much alcohol and suggest highly morally and legally dubious solutions to your problems, but if you can handle that...

Seriously? *is interested in this* I can understand why given that his vampiric tendencies (despite not actually needing blood the way, say, Morbius does) show that he potentially has deep-rooted issues that need a lot of tending to, but I can't imagine he stayed there very long.

I am in favor of both of these things!

I tend to work on the principle that if you're getting paid that much for it, it's not an issue, it's just a proclivity. ;)

If I didn't know he was messed up and loving it I could probably psychoanalyze him so hard he wouldn't be able to sit down the next morning.

...is it very, very bad that I totally want to see that conversation now?

Better question, would he sit still for it and not attempt to do nasty things to me?

Depends on how amusing he found it, I imagine. Quite possibly, at least for a while...

Then one might start by looking at his intense need to have power over others, stemming from abuse and seperation from peers when he was younger due to personality and appearance.

A perfectly rational response to such ill-treatment, really. Especially when you suddenly realise sometime around the age of puberty that you've developed meta-powers and all the people who hated you haven't...

And of course his abilities and weaknesses would make him consider himself vampire-like and traditionally vampires have a lot of power over mere mortals.

The blood drinking was a natural, if highly demented reaction to wanting to be more like a vampire.

There's also, of course, the fact that I think he just really, really likes the taste. >.>

Incidentally, of course, normal humans actually can't drink blood in any quantity - more than a pint at most, and generally you'll get quite radically sick. I assume it's his halfbreed nature that lets him actually, physically *do* what he does; which brings up the added consideration that the predisposition towards preying on/slaughtering humans seems to be core genetic encoding for anyone with Lilith's bloodline in them. (You want someone really messed up to analyse, talk to Blackout's distant cousin Skinner, who actually tried to resist his nature and be a normal human being for a while. That ended WAY badly.)

Not quite going to ask how you know that, but it makes sense.

Getting into his Lilin nature brings up the whole nature/nurture psychopathy debate and I'm not exactly well-versed in that area. I don't suppose he had any tendencies towards arson or animal-torturing or...well, we really only need two so I won't bother with the third.

I suspect he may have killed animals for their blood and/or out of general predator instincts before he graduated to killing humans, but I'm not sure about that. Arson not so much, I think, though if there was a good reason to set something ablaze he wouldn't have had any qualms about it. But he doesn't have any particular love for fire - there's not much point in it when your powers are darkness-centric, for one thing...

Mm. Well, they're not complete predictors and genetics here have a lot more to do with him than they do with a normal human psychopath, so I think that scenario can go away.

What do you mean, 'somehow'? She plunked down her $600+ like any other customer. Her publisher is a vanity press/print-on-demand house.

Self-published fiction is notoriously bad for a reason.

That does not change the fact that she's a nutter and thinks writing for kids excludes her from a need for actual talent.
