Ohhhhhh god.
Nov. 13th, 2006 12:04 pmI am freezing my ass off right now and it's not because of the weather. If you ever want to give platlets, be prepared to be very, very cold. For about an hour.
The thing is that they take the blood out of you, run it through a machine to remove the platelets, and put it back in you. It's quite safe, but the blood cools from body temperature to room temperature before it slides into your veins and it chills you to the bone. Or at least it chilled me, considering that room temperature in that place was about 55 degrees or so. They gave me a bunch of warm blankets, but they don't help too much when the cold is inside you. *shudders*
