Thoughts on Endgame, Part 2.

YOU. BASTARDS.

Starscream, okay. He's a fan favorite, but he was also a bad guy and I can see where you'd have room to do so. He even got one of the cleaner deaths of the season. Five to one it still didn't take and there's some loophole that gets him back. But Prowl? And with that heartbreaking smile? You utter slimeballs, I heard the rumors but I didn't think you'd actually go and do it. Still got a hell of a lot more dignity than movieverse Jazz, at least.

*sigh* I know, dramatic appeal, did exactly what it was intended to and added a degree of bittersweetness to the triumphant victory. Doesn't make me any happier about it.

The rest of the episode was good, but not great. It had the problem earlier episodes lacked, in that it needed to wrap up as much as it could by the end, and this made things rather rushed. The plot elements themselves--battle against the Supremes, the rescue of Arcee and Omega, the epic Optimus/Megatron battle we've all been waiting for, Starscream's inevitable fuckuppery--those were all fine, but they really should have been spaced out more, with a bit more resolution at the end. It's really not below their usual standards of awesome, but it still felt very incomplete.

There needs to be a Season Four. If only to sort this shit out. We've still got Sari's widget and Chekov's protoforms, that has to be enough to bring back a few dead idiots and jumpstart a new plot.

I'm going to go do something perfectly dignified and mundane. Please ignore the muffled sniffling in the bathroom, as I certainly never cry at series finales.
