Advent #12
Another old one, never finished.
“Man, that Thrust!” complained Demolisher. “He just sizzles my circuits!”
He threw a punch at Cyclonus. Moon dust shifted around their feet as they fought inside the lunar crater.
“So much for great general,” Cyclonus cackled. “We got our afts kicked.”
He ducked and retaliated with a hit to Demolisher’s pelvic region. Demolisher took the blow with a grunt and came at him with an uppercut.
“He thinks he’s so smart, sucking up to Megatron like that,” the tank growled. “Well, he’s not.”
Cyclonus blocked with his forearm. They stood frozen in perfect balance for a moment, strengths pressed against each other.
Cyclonus could tell that Demolisher was holding back. He always did when they fought like this. Demolisher was nearly half again his mass and twice as powerful. He could do some serious damage to Cyclonus if he really wanted to.
Cyclonus grinned and punched Demolisher in the chest with his other hand. Of course, this meant that Cyclonus could hit as hard as he wanted and not worry. Demolisher could pretty much take anything he could dish out.
Demolisher caught the copter’s arm and held it easily. Cyclonus jerked in his strong grip.
He rammed Demolisher with his shoulder to make him let go. Surprised, Demolisher stumbled, turned, and fell over. They tumbled down together, raising a cloud of dust from the moon rock. Unfortunately for Cyclonus, he landed on the bottom.
“Hey! Get off me!”
Demolisher just laughed at him. Cyclonus’s voice dropped a little of its giddiness.
“No, seriously, get off. You’re on my rotors.”
Demolisher quickly sat up and moved back until he was kneeling over Cyclonus’s legs.
“Sorry.”
Cyclonus sat up a bit and looked over his shoulder at where his rotors had been attempting to conform themselves to the shape of his back. He whimpered a little, and then turned back around to look at Demolisher with just that sinister face that meant he was up to no good.
“Sucker!”
He heaved himself back and kicked Demolisher in the chin with both feet. Demolisher cursed harshly as he toppled backwards and Cyclonus transformed and took to the air, not waiting around for retribution.
“Nah nah, nah nah,” he jeered. “Come and get me.” Demolisher rubbed his jaw and fired at him.
“Oh, I’ll get you all right.”
Cyclonus fired back and they chased each other across the moonscape. Neither one truly tried to hit the other, but they aimed close enough to give the illusion of danger, enough to make it exciting. Demolisher ran to the edge of the crater and shot at Cyclonus from the safety of the stone overhang. Cyclonus cackled as he flew low over Demolisher’s head.
“Come on, groundkisser, you can do better than that.”
Groundkisser? Oh, it was on, now. Demolisher turned around and shot the tip of Cyclonus’s rotor. Cyclonus, not really injured but still role-playing, came careening down. He transformed and angled his fall so he crashed on top of Demolisher, knocking him into the wall of the crater. Demolisher slid down into a half-sitting position with Cyclonus on top of him.
“You shot me!” accused Cyclonus.
“I barely grazed you. Besides, you kicked me in the face.”
“I only did it because you shot me.”
“What? But I shot you after you kicked me.”
“What’s that got to do with it?”
Demolisher’s mouth opened and shut a few times, trying to make sense of this. “But, but you…” He gave up. “You’re completely insane.” Cyclonus propped himself up on his elbows on Demolisher’s chest.
“I would have thought you’d have figured that out by now.”
