First off: Amasa, I am very VERY sorry for falling asleep on you last night. Next time I'll know my limits and go to bed before I get a faceful of keyboard.

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] raisedbymoogles

1) What's your icon from? 'Cause it looks cute.

It’s the cropped head from this, which is a human female version of Cybertron Ransack.

2) What was your favorite toy as a kid?

I had a lot of stuffed animals that I loved dearly, but one of my favorites was Judge Rabbit. He was a bunny in a judge outfit with a wig and a little gavel that later came unglued and got lost. He was given to me at some thing with a Santa Claus when I was really little, and it might have had something to do with the fact that I snuck out of the room while the other kids were playing and I saw “Santa” getting his costume together. Fortunately I’m Jewish so I already knew the secret.

3) Quick! Make up a battle cry!

Feel your mind sizzle, for your logical thought shall be mine!

4) Pick one appliance in your house that you wish could talk.

Does the computer count? Besides that I wish the toaster could talk so I’d be able to know why it won’t put the bread down half the time.

5) What annoys you about the fandom? And by "the fandom" I mean any fandom that you happen to be in-mindset right now.

Transformers fanboys

I’m pretty pissed at some of the purists who think that whatever the networks put out isn’t good enough, so they’re going rewrite the entire series-universe to their own specifications. I’ve seen more then one rewrite of Energon where they just take what they want and make up the rest. Or the ones that just out and out hate non-G1 and bash Armada worst of all. I’m an Armada fan and I’m damn proud of it.

This guy is also a little on the confusing side. He seems to think that cartoon and comic Shockwave are aspects of the same person, and Shockblast must be similar to them in personality.

And then there’s the art. I’m no artist so perhaps I should be complaining, but I’m tired of seeing everyone just posing with no background, usually with a hand reaching out. Where’s the action, where’s the creativity?

Don’t even get me started on the depiction of females, and this goes for both genders. Stop depicting them as frail little flowers or preppy romance-obsessed shoppers. The canon femmes are warriors, and any Autobot/Decepticon fancharacters are going to at least have a tough-girl streak. I refer you to Steadfast or Steelcast for Decepticon examples. Capable, elegant, deadly in Steadfast’s case, but no hint of “OMG My boyfriend hates me I’m going to go cry in a corner”. Blech. Neutrals are a different story, but there are no canon neutrals.

As an amateur artist, I can explain this.

It is damn hard to do a background that looks good with no formal training. So you concentrate on people first, and if you're ever lucky enough to go to art school(not that easy pass public school shit course), then you work on backgrounds. Otherwise it's just not going to look good. From what I can tell, most fan art is practice-y.

XD That's awesome. Is there any more?

Transformers fanboys

Word. This is why I stay on the Padded Cell.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
If I can find the page I'll post it for you. I was just browsing about and stumbled onto it.

Ay. Females tend to be more creative and less obsessed with toys and leaving canon as it is. Plus they mostly don't like slash.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't know that. But what about poses that don't look like they copied the tech spec pic? They could at least stop standing and reaching out towards the viewer, or is that a hard one too?

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
No slash? Well, what good are they then? ;)

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It's fun to break their brains, though. In the same thread as idiot-fanboy, they were mildly touching the concept, speaking of Firestar-Inferno-Red Alert. But it was oh so gently, like tender little slash virgins.

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*gigglefit* Aww. That's almost cute.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I've always wanted to have a "calm logical discussion" with a wild fanboy, slashy or not slashy. It would be hazardous but fun.

I've already broken [livejournal.com profile] raptorscribe several times.

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, is he breakable? *evil grin* I've seen him on Sages a few times...

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Go into the specifics of interfacing and he'll shatter like glass at a Jewish wedding.

[identity profile] revelininsanity.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Personally, as someone who can't draw someone reaching for the viewer, I'd have to say, um, yes. It can be done, but I haven't done it very well yet. I tend to go for the casual stance, usually holding a spear, or pointing at something.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I retract my statement about the art, then. It looks boring, but even the most talented artists who've drawn for comic books seem to do them the most.

[identity profile] beckyh2112.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I most heartily object! There are canon neutrals in the old Marvel comics! They're destitute and constantly on the lam from Decepticons looking for fun, but they exist!

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Female neutrals, I mean.

[identity profile] beckyh2112.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh, true.

Of course, I exist under the belief that a femme's body-shape is defined by her function. Thus the Autobot girls were fancy sports-cars, while Steelcast is a hauler truck. (Heretic, one of my femme OCs, probably looks like an Autobot girl, since she's a fancy sports-car and Autobot-built. On the other hand, her lover is a Seeker-femme who looks like every other slagging Seeker out there except for the paint job.)

[identity profile] amasaglajax.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's all right! ♥ It was an amazing RP, I can'tw ait to finish it.

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
XD Muahahaha.

Hmph. Too bad Roddy's too shy to ask about the Facts of Life... *pokes him*

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, good. I was literally half asleep when I stumbled over to the computer, so I didn't even know if your reply was real or a dream.

And glad you're having fun with the RP, I know I am(and I'm slowly turning it into something vaguely ficcish).

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The only femme I've ever written was a Decepticon armored carrier named Terminus who had a bit part in Rout of Survival. She's about 1.5 times the size of a normal mech and has been mistaken for a male more then once by those who only see her at chest or shoulder level and don't pay attention to the other bits. Her voice usually gives her away, though.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Forgot he was still a virgin, despite the many allegations involving Galvatron. Can we at least anonymously send him some smut for educational purposes?

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Who, Roddy or raptorscribe?

'Cause if Roddy, then he won't learn much before his brain shuts down in self-defense. Which would be amusing, come to think. ;)

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the same would apply to Raptor.

Maybe if we do it like in sex ed class, very clinical and passionless. And with diagrams too. *smirks*

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
*splorflefit* Just as long as we don't focus on abstinence...

[identity profile] amasaglajax.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Eeee, you HAVE to show it to me when you are done.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Sneak peek!

"You're right, Dem. The only surprise is how everyone else hasn't seen it. I am only here to make you miserable by, uh, destroying your enemies and staying away from your bondmate? Oh, right, that doesn't make any blasted sense! Well, never mind, whatever feeds your narcissism best. Eh, Dem-Dem?"

The sad part was, he was right. There was nothing Demolisher could directly blame Deathscythe for, besides the occasional whistful look in Snowcat?s direction. In spite of everything, Demolisher was almost starting to like the Gundam. And he hated that.

"Shut up!" Demolisher snarled as he got to his feet. He wobbled a bit and staggered over to Dee. "I've been watching you and more importantly, I've been watching him." He pointed vaguely in the direction of his unconscious bondmate. "I see how he looks at you. He wants you."

The real hard part is just converting it from script to prose format. Then I just put in the desciption bits.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Certainly not!

I mean, we'd be government bound to show him the pictures of rust infections, but we encourage safe interfacing as opposed to abstinence. The whole trust-your-partner thing, that's definitly out.

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
*snrk* Well, some partners more than others. And always use protection. *sage nod*

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. Always use an anti-virus program.

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
*gigglefit* And remember to run Spybot every so often.

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Who, Scourge?

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
*blinks* *thinks about that for a minute*

*falls over giggling*

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
*bows* I'll be here all week, folks.

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
*tosses energon goodies onstage*

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yum! Scratch that, I'll be here for the next month. *eats of the goodies*

[identity profile] raisedbymoogles.livejournal.com 2005-10-16 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
n.n Yay!

[identity profile] amasaglajax.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
That's fun. ^_^ I should think what's hard is keeping viewpoint consistent; are you bothering to do that at all?

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's mostly from Demolisher's perspective, for obvious reasons, but the whole thing is third person omniscient. Dee gets a little viewpointing too.

[identity profile] amasaglajax.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Tres excellent, I can't wait to see it! You putting it up on FFN?

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-17 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno. It recquires a lot of knowledge of the backstory, I might just put it up on LJ in chunks. You know, like those serials they used to have in newspapers.

diagrams?!

[identity profile] goldcelestial.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I never got diagrams!!
not that I want any.....
but I had *shudders* evangelical preacher man as my sex ed teacher two years ago. *rolls eyes*

Re: diagrams?!

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-18 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
My condolences. I had my mom.

[identity profile] fusioncloud.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
For someone who preaches for a more open-minded community, you can be incredibly vindictive. Then again, the two of us share a lot more in common than I think you realize.

Jolly good show, I say.

You also might want to fix that hyperlink. =P

[identity profile] seiberwing.livejournal.com 2005-10-20 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't say that. I just dislike some of the behavior I've seen. For instance, a number of people have written versions of Energon done "their way", changing canon into something unrecognizable and making people OOC just because they didn't like the way it was done (all right, so I'm vindictive because one person made it so Thrust lived through Armada just so he could be tortured and de-sparked for the amusement of the Thrust-bashers. But you get my point). I just dislike the prejudice.

Then again, the two of us share a lot more in common than I think you realize.

How so?
