seiberwing: (Internet Arguement)
So due to my computer being futzy, it goes to the shop tomorrow. I don't think the problem will involve anything as complex as replacing the motherboard but one never knows, so I'm backing up all my files just in case and if it has to stay at the shop for a while I can still work on my stuff.

My photos alone {this is excluding art, scans, screenshots, and other people's photographs} come out to thirteen point nine GB. My dad's flash drive, the communal house backup/file transfer device is sixteen GB. I have taken so many pictures over the course of about six or seven years that they are the majority of a government employee's backup system, and all my stored other pictures will have to be burned to CDs or put on one of my other flash drives.

I think I might have a photography addiction. Do they do shutterbug support groups?

EDIT: Going through and deleting some of the extraneous, I really don't need a bunch of useless screenshots or fanart I've already faved on DevArt. I'd forgotten I even had some of this stuff--when did I even download a Blurr/Bumblebee kemonomimi doujinshi? I do not think that needs preserving.

So...I'm thinking about entering my first photo contest. No money, of course, but a little prestige would be nice and I've never done anything like this before. Even if I don't win I'll probably feel good for entering. However, I'm still stuck on which specific pic I want to use, so I figured I'd invest in the wisdom of LJ to help me decide. I've narrowed my choices down to a few, although if anyone wants to go back under my photography tag and make a recommendation they're welcome to do so.

Pictures and requirements under the cut. )

Pictures from my jaunt five minutes up the road to Cherokee Cave on one of the few days a year it's actually open.

Down, down, down... )

And here is the fun part of the fair, the metal-clad people beating each other about the head and torso with long hard objects.

In the interest of giving credit where credit is due, the group's apparently known as Swords of Chivalry and they do a lot of reenactment type things.

Cut for a serious load of pics. )

I got toasty as all get out afterwards, but the sunburn was worth it. I wish we had stuff this cool back home.

The things I see in this city. An hour ago I woke up to find a window washing brush tapping on my window like it wanted money.

Sorry I'm late again, but here are the pictures from the fair last weekend. I'm putting up the non-combat pictures from last week's fair first, because there's a lot of pictures and this is simpler.

Cut for the obvious. )

Next time: Swords, shiny things, and people who won't stop falling over.

Phew...

London Expo, whoo!

So very, very glad I went with [livejournal.com profile] oxbridgefemme, it was the most awesome thing in the history of fanstuff ever and we need to have it more. With shiny costumes and everything.

Pictures, pictures, everywhere. May need some IDs, I don't know some of these characters. )

Being at my Grandma's house in New York might technically be some level of hell, but this is the first time I've actually seen flames. O_o Yesterday I came into the city only to find that there were a bunch of fire engines sitting about and a moderately sized crowd gathered outside staring up at the building across the street. Like any plucky girl detective who'd later be coughing up some aching and smoky lungs for the next couple of hours, I grabbed my camera and scurried down.

Yep, building across the way was on fire. No idea how, or why someone on the second floor seemed rather content to keep cooking his dinner while the firefighters broke the windows on the sixth floor, but there it was. While apparently Granma saw the incident on the news, I can't find it anywhere on the internet. It's a bit funny, considering how many engines they called out. Granma says six firefighters went to the hospital for it, too; perhaps it was another fire? It's a weird city.

But at least I have photographic evidence. )

As Granma visits go, this one hasn't been bad at all. ^_^

You know what's fun? Walkiing around the neighborhood in the falling snow and enjoying the way the sparkling flakes dance around the streetlights.

You know what's not fun? Slipping down the hill next to the indoor pool and doing something weird to your leg so you spend the rest of the evening with a limp. Totally worth it, though!

Yeah, so my camera's bad with night scenes. )

Everything looks prettier in the snow. It's like putting sugar on stuff--always makes them tastier.

Snow day!

As the internet knows by now, white fluffy things came down from the sky on Monday. I have been lazy not had the chance to post the pictures I got from the graveyard over behind Anglia Ruskin. There's some pretty neat stuff out there--I wasn't the only one taking photos, either.

Ask for me to-morrow, and you shall find me a grave man. And one who still has to go to class. )

While I realize it seems to be fucking up everyone else in the whole bloody country...I want more snow. *sad*

This is technically from yesterday evening, but things seem to look shinier at night anyway. I might get a few more snapshots if I go out tomorrow.

Cut for reindeer pelts and passive aggressive cookies )

So, the holey angels at the Grand Arcade seem to be taking the prize for most inadvertantly disturbing decoration in the Cambridge city center. However, a new challenger has arrived for the festive jellyfish.

Mortal Kombat )
seiberwing: (WTF?)
On the advice unheeded warning of [livejournal.com profile] apprentice_lurk, I went down to the Grand Arcade to look at the strange Christmas decorations.

And they were quite strange indeed. )

People really need better internal decorators.

This is quite overdue, as are most of the things I’ve promised to write. But I’m sitting here in my gentleman’s coat and froofy shirt from Camden at three in the morning and you can’t really just sit and browse Fandom Wank in such a getup, can you? You have to do something.

So here's a something. )
